2019 Schedule of Events

Meet over 50 local authors at this annual event! Authors will be placed throughout the beautiful Prairie-style building that is the Crest Hill Branch Library in order to provide access to authors from a variety of genres who write for adults, teens, and children. Swag bags will be handed out to the first 200 people, and there will be raffles, including one tied to a scavenger hunt where the winning prize is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A generously donated by Overdrive!

Our speaker series is branded as, “Crime & Punishment”. While the Fest isn’t a true crime event, our featured speakers all have some kind of true crime background. Here’s the lineup:

  • 10:30 – 11:30 am: Steven Lotz, Illinois State Police: Forensic Scientist – Firearms/Footwear/Tiretracks: What a Forensic Scientist Does
  • 12:00 – 1:00 pm: Pete Wilkes, Head of the Criminal Division of the Will County State’s Attorney’s office, will give us insight into the prosecution of Tommy Crockwell, who murdered 19 year old Johnny Rouse.
  • 2:00 – 3:00 pm: Jeff Mudgett: How he turned Bloodstains into a History Channel docuseries and major motion picture, with tips for self-published authors

Seating is first come, first served. We will being handing out numbers to Mr. Mudgett’s talk at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 19th at the Crest Hill Branch Library. Number holders will have until 1:30 pm to hand in their number and take a seat. After that, we will open the doors to everyone.
