A Murder Mystery Affair Casino-themed Fundraiser by the White Oak Author Fest

The Crest Hill Branch will roll out the red carpet and be turned into “The Oaks Casino” where guests will dine on heavy appetizers and drinks. Guests will have the opportunity to interrogate a cast of characters, play casino games to earn clues, and solve old-fashioned pen-to-paper puzzles in order to determine who murdered Bradley, code name Black Jack, a spy undercover at the casino.

Tickets are $50 per person, and this fundraiser will help to defray the cost of bringing in New York Times Bestselling author Sara Paretsky during the White Oak Author Fest on Saturday, October 13, 2018. The only way to get a chance to see Ms. Paretsky will be by buying a ticket to this fundraiser. If you’re not able to make it to A Murder Mystery Affair the evening of Saturday, August 18, 2018, donations in the amount of $50 are accepted.

Please contact Amy Byrne, Crest Hill Branch Manager, for tickets. We accept cash, credit card, and check, and tickets must be paid for prior to the event.

You must be aged 21 years and older to attend, and semi-formal attire is encouraged for the casino theme.

Young Writers Workshop

Crest Hill Branch Library invites kids ages 5-12 to our Young Writers Workshop! Are you an author, illustrator, or both? Whether you have a work in progress, or are just getting started, attend this workshop to ask your questions, find inspiration, and let your imagination run wild with some fun writing exercises!

Create a portfolio, learn how to get your work out there, and enjoy a snack while socializing with fellow artists. Parents are encouraged to attend with younger participants to work as their writing assistants.
